Besides a Kula Deivam every family clan will have a separate Madha Samy and a
separate pooja for the same once in a year.This custom is also a unique aone and
we can find only among virudhanagar Hindu Nadar families. There are only assumption
for the celebration of Madha samy pooja . we don't know the reason for madha
samy when there is already a kula deivam.

Assumption 1:

As we have seen above it is the custom of having a family deity for each family
as far as virudhanagar hindu Nadars are concerned. At the same time two or more
family clans shal also have the same deity as their family god. So by keeping
the same family god for them each different family clan may have a separate Madha
samy for their own.

Some family clans may have male deity as their family god .to compensate this
they may have a female deity as a matha samy.

In the celebration of family deity married male members of the family are considered
as separate thalaikattus and they are given then much importance during that time.
Since our's is a paternal oriented society, where female members, married or
yet to marry, are of no importance . so to make them to feel importance and to
make active participation of such female members the custom of madha deivam would
have evolved. Since in celebrating madha deivam female members are given the front
position. At the time of pooja the married female ie daughters with their husbands
are the special invitees. The daughter in-law of the family, the daughter married
and yet to marry, are all will be provided with new cloths. We can assume that
Madha pooja is more or less a way of showing gratitude to the female members of
the family.since they are the one who give birth to new life by this adding new
baby members to the family.
