"Pattam Kattuthal" periya samy poojas were stopped. The runtime Poojas were
executed under hire and fine basis . yearly festivals like thi Pongal and Masi
Sivarathiri were celebrated in a modest way. Then once again in 1980 then poojari
and his family members and his pangalees wanted to include them as the legal pangalees
of the temple. That means they claimed share in holy and legal ownership of the
temple. It was rejected by the megavarnam, Kotchar and Karuppa Nadar pangalees
so then Poojari on 10-01-1986 locked the temple abruptly and handed over the key
to them one of our senior pangalee Karuppa Nadar Madurai K.P.Rm Rajarathna
Nadar. Then Poojari and and his other Pangalees left the temple once for all by
taking out the Pidiman from our temple and have established their own temple at
AruppaKottai Road . The problem was subdued by this. Since then Megavarnam M.P.S>N.
Nagendran is executing honourarily with unanimous consent from other three pangalees
the temple coarse work . A Hind person was appointed to assist him on a salary
basis under hire and fine system . to reduce the work load then and there during
the time of festival our other willing pangalees will also join the pooja work
honourarily.
So to conduct periya samy pooja a head poojari need a holy sanction , then he
can not do his house hold work, then the temple has to support him with its fund
and this will go on for ever and will lead to financial and practical complications.
So to avoid all these complications "Pattam Kattuthal" was stoped. Then to
celebrate periya samy pooja we have to stay in the temple for 2 to 3 days since
the pooja is a lengthy process. It is practically impossible since many of our
pangalees are in out of station and our Kovil is too small to accommodate so many
pangalees in a given time. More over immolation in legally prohibited in our state.
So considering all these peria samy pooja was stopped.
But from 1972 thi Pongal and Masi Shivarathiri festivals are celebrated in a healthy
manner under the strong leadership then Trustee Natanmai N.K.D .Rajakani Nadar
and under the supervivisional execution of Madurai K.P.Rm and Parties . it is
all happened so good because of the efficient and corrupt free Administrative
committee which are formed then and there.
